About Wright School of Dance

We are a friendly dance school in Caversham, Reading dedicated to inspiring children to enjoy dance, make friends, develop confidence and improve their skills.

Classes are held in Ballet and Tap, Freestyle and Street for all ages between 3-18yrs+.

Established in January 2001, Wright School of Dance has grown organically and has an all inclusive family feel. Our main ethos is to care, encourage and empower pupils to be themselves in a positive learning environment.

Joanna Wright - Principal

Miss Joanna started dancing at the age of four at the Carlo Rossi School of Dance in London and then in later years, Surrey, with Senior Examiner of the IDTA Mrs Loraine Hastings.

She took her first teaching qualification at the age of 16 and is now a Fellow Member of the International Dance Teachers Association.

Miss Joanna has built a career in dance teaching over many years. She established Wright School of Dance at the age of 23 and taught at E.P. Collier Primary School for 10 years gaining invaluable experience teaching all forms of dance. Three years ago she set up her second business, WiggleWaggle, which provides music and movement classes for children under 5 all around Reading. Please check out the Facebook page for further details.

Joanna has also adjudicated and lectured for the IDTA in Street Dance and Musical Theatre.

Claire Godfrey - Administration

Claire is Miss Joanna's PA and is in charge of all things administrative at WSD! Claire worked as a PA for many years both in London and Reading. After a career break to raise her two dance loving daughters, Claire joined the team in September 2017 and is responsible for admissions, fees and communications. Katie Clements - Dance Assistant

Katie has always had a love of dance and studied at Allenova School of Dance from age 3-16yrs. Katie first met Miss Joanna at Wiggle Waggle when her daughter was 2yrs old and as soon as she was old enough, her daughter started dancing at WSD. When invited to join WSD as a Dance Assistant she jumped at the chance to watch others fall in love with dance as she had herself. Aside from assisting at WSD, Katie has worked at a doctors surgery for the past 6yrs and recently trained as a Healthcare Assistant.
